  • Demonstration and Partner Farm Coordinator (WI)

    The Savanna Institute invites applications for a Demonstration and Partner Farm Coordinator to steward a network of Wisconsin farms practicing agroforestry, serving as demonstration and education sites to foster further adoption of agroforestry practices. This role will lead the emergent Wisconsin Demonstration and Partner Farm Program, which seeks to create regional, long-term farmer and landholder support and connection through agroforestry practices. This position will work to connect farms already practicing agroforestry or at the beginning stages of establishment utilizing NRCS Farm Bill programs. This is a new position within Savanna Institute and is designed to be dynamic, adaptable, and community-informed.  The Demonstration and Partner Farm Coordinator is a vital and valued member of the Demonstration and On-Farm Education Team, whose work focuses on in-person and on-farm agroforestry education, training, and demonstration. This position will also work with the Technical Service Provider Program, which provides one-on-one support to farmers and landholders seeking to plan, design, and establish agroforestry on their farmlands, as well as external partners like WI NRCS, the Agroforestry Coalition, and a mix of other local and regional partners. This position provides travel support, including reimbursed mileage for personal vehicle use and meal per diems and lodging for overnight travel. This position reports to the Director of Demonstration and On-Farm Education

  • Spring Green Farm Administration and Business Development Coordinator

    The Savanna Institute invites applications for a Farm Administration and Business Development Assistant to advance agroforestry by supporting the record keeping and administrative elements of the Savanna Institute’s Spring Green Campus and Demonstration Farms. This position will work closely with the Spring Green Campus Farm Director, Demonstration Farm Director, and other Savanna Institute staff, community partners, collaborating farmers/landowners, and farm visitors. This position reports to the Spring Green Campus Farm Director This position will primarily be on-site work in Spring Green, WI, with remote work opportunities

  • Spring Green Equipment Operations and Maintenance Specialist

    The Savanna Institute invites applications for a Equipment Operations and Maintenance Specialist to advance agroforestry by supporting the development and management of Savanna Institute’s Spring Green Campus Home Farms. The Home Farms feature the development of novel tree crop varieties within integrated agroforestry systems. This position will work closely with the Spring Green Campus Farm Director, other Savanna Institute staff, community partners, collaborating farmers/landowners, and farm visitors. This is a full-time, year-round position with flexibility for limited hours during the winter months. Part-time year-round employment will also be considered This position reports to the Spring Green Campus Farm Director

On-Farm Apprenticeship Opportunities Available

Our Apprenticeship Program offers a one-of-a-kind experience to beginning farmers. Each season, the Savanna Institute pairs apprentices with mentor farmers to learn agroforestry and business management skills. Apprenticeships are paid and last for a minimum of 10 weeks. Apprentices also take online coursework and have an opportunity for community-building throughout the year.
