From December 6th – 8th, 2023, the Perennial Farm Gathering brought together 600 people60 presenters, and 20 sponsors over three days of community-building for perennial agriculture. Keynotes by authors Robin Wall Kimmerer and Ross Gay kept us rooted in Traditional Ecological Knowledge and the creative joy that tending a garden can bring. We heard more than 30 Nutshell Talks and attended 30 sessions on subjects ranging from tree tubes to land access.

The Savanna Institute hosted its Perennial Farm Gathering virtually in 2023 from Wednesday, December 6th to Friday, December 8th. For eight years running, the event has served as a vital networking opportunity for farmers, growers, foresters, and people who practice perennial agriculture and agroforestry, the integration of trees on farms. Author and scientist Robin Wall Kimmerer delivered the PFG2023 keynote, “The Fortress, the River and the Garden,” and live Q&A (only the Q&A is included in the recordings). Poet and orchardist Ross Gay, delivered his talk “Cultivating Sustainable Joy.” Plus we heard from 60 session presenters and 30 Nutshell Talks. Sponsors for the event included: USDA Forest Service National Agroforestry Center, The Nature Conservancy, Iroquois Valley Farms LLC, the Center for Agroforestry, and many others.
