Silvopasture and Riparian Buffer Field Day at Fields Restored farm

September 18, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Silvopasture and Riparian Buffer Field Day at Fields Restored farm

Illinois Community Agroforester Kaitie Adams, and landowners Scott & Sandy Williams, will lead the group through Fields Restored’s silvopasture experiment, edible riparian buffer, and fruit, nut and hay alley cropping systems. Fields Restored is a privately owned 166-acre row-crop farm near Oregon, Illinois; by the Williams family. They first worked with the Savanna Institute to transition 20 acres to alley cropping in 2015. After seeing the rapid revitalization of this parcel, they are now committed to converting more of their farm into the prime agroforestry demonstration farm of Northern Illinois. The diverse topography and ecology of their land are ideal for demonstrating a range of agroforestry practices.
