Food Forest Learning Tour

Saturday, June 4th, 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Join Prairie Wind Family Farm, the Savanna Institute, and the Liberty Prairie Foundation for this half-day learning session and field walk offering insights into the theory and practicalities of the food forest. The food forest is an agroforestry practice that involves planting of diverse fruit-and-nut-bearing trees, shrubs, and other vegetation to mimic the ecology of a natural forest.

The Savanna Institute, which demonstrates and promotes agroforestry around the Midwest, will share the many benefits and design considerations of food forests. Prairie Wind Family Farm and the Liberty Prairie Foundation will bring the perspective of real-world farmers and landowners.
