Grass Up tour kick off
A special reception to learn why perennial agriculture matters to the health of animals, people, and planet. Hear remarks from Rep. Travis Tranel, Dairy Grazing Apprenticeship, and UW-Platteville. Speak with experts on the connections between soil, pasture, pollinators, nutrition, and economic impact, while enjoying craft cocktails and delicious organic food at this invitation-only event. Read more and RSVP here. Silvopasture establishment and Wetland restoration
Liz and Nate Brownlee rotationally graze livestock in mature and recently-established silvopastures on Liz's family farm. They are in year four of converting conventional cropland to silvopasture. They're also converting 50 acres to prairie and pollinator plantings and they've restored 30 acres of wetlands. They aim to care for their homeplace and feed their neighbors.
July 15, 1:30 pm
1046 Tipperary Rd, Oregon, WI
Uncommon fruit trials
For nearly 50 years, Dale and Cindy Secher have developed an integrated cropping system that incorporates all available management tools to maximize production and food safety, while minimizing environmental impact. Fruits include many varieties of pears, plums, cherries, aronia, sea berry, currants, gooseberries, blackberries, elderberries, and Saskatoon.
Location: SE MN
University of Minnesota Extension, University of Wisconsin Extension, and the Savanna Institute jointly host a silvopasture workshop featuring training, networking, and field tours. Details forthcoming.

FERAL FARM & GLACIERLAND RC&D
N2437 Brattset Lane, Jefferson, WI
Agroforestry & Long-Term Leases
Feral Farm grows a diversity of tree crops in polyculture rows with hay alley cropped between, with an increasing emphasis on chestnuts. It is made possible by a unique long-term land access arrangement with Brattsett Family Farm, a grass-fed beef farm. Both farm operations have learned a lot about working collaboratively between an established farmer and a beginning one.

Next (re)generation agroforestry
Join Jacob and nonprofit, extension, and agency personnel, for a field day highlighting how a conventional row crop operation is transitioning to multi-species pasture systems. We’ll talk about silvopasture establishment research, cost-share opportunities, techniques to extend the grazing season, and mentorship programs. Come see pigs and sheep rotationally graze in their two-year old silvopasture planting, a beef herd grass-finishing on fall interseeded annuals, a production flock of pastured laying hens, and a rainfall and erosion simulator.
We want to talk perennial crop shop earlier in the planning season this year...so Save the Date November 29 for our yearly gathering!
